Jammu, Mar 03 (KNO): As the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly’s budget session commenced on Monday, senior Congress leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir said that its for the first time in seven years, the budget will be debated in a democratic setup rather than bureaucrats deciding it behind the closed doors . "For seven years, democracy was absent. Budgets were passed behind closed doors by bureaucrats, with no representation from elected leaders. Now, after all these years, the budget will be debated, and the voices of the people will finally be heard," Mir, who is also the leader of the Congress Legislature Party told the House. Mir, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), acknowledged key points from the LG's speech, highlighting the assurance on statehood and the commitment to addressing public grievances. "People will listen to their issues being raised, and debated under the camera observation," he added. Mir said that the Assembly session is an important opportunity for elected representatives to raise public concerns, including employment issues, inflation, and essential services like food, water, and gas—(KNO)
